Beach travel

I have had the opportunity to go to Oak Island, NC, a couple of times this fall and winter. The last one being January 15-18. I really get my energy when I am walking on the beach. This is interesting since I was born in Nebraska.

I have never been to Oak Island but I have lived on an island in North Carolina. For three years, my family lived on Roanoke Island in the city of Manteo. We frequently visited the lighthouses of the Outer Banks, Currituck, Bodie Island, Hatteras, and Ocracoke. Did you enjoy the Oak Island lighthouse?

My husband and I spent our honeymoon traveling down the coast of North Carolina. We stopped in Roanoke, Cap Hatteras, The Outer Banks, and pitched a tent for a week in Ocracoke. I loved Ocracoke and have many pictures of our time there. It was amazing. What is Oak Island like comparing it to the spots I mentioned?

I find walking on the beach and listening to the surf crash against the shore makes me feel energized. I feel as if I could fly. It is the most amazing thing in the world. I love going to the beach as much as we can.

I went to the Outer Banks for the first time this past summer and I have lived in NC for 11 years! It was great, but I don't know why it took me so long to go there. We rented a house for a week and it turned into a family reunion for my husband's family. His mom and dad went with us and all 3 of his brothers came too, at some point in the week. It was busy, but fun.

The ocean there is rough, but still fun to swim in. I like to float over the waves for a while and then body surf into shore. You can get rolled around and crushed by those waves. The ocean is amazing and so immense. I find it energizing as well to walk along the shore, and then to stop and look at all of the life that has been deposited there.

I hope to go again this year!
